The Annual individual junior championships for Cardiff and the Vale schoolchildren took place at Cardiff City Council Offices on 12th February. For many years the Championships have been supported by Cardiff City Council, allowing the use of the prestigious venue. This event is now seen as one of the highlights of the chess calendar.

Queen of Katwe being screened in Cardiff later this month

The Chapter, Market Road, Canton, Cardiff, CF51QE, have agreed to show “The Queen of Katwe” over Half-Term. This is a lovely film about a 10 year old girl in rural Uganda who is introduced to chess and finds her life is changed forever. It is an incredibly moving and inspirational true story.
