It is with regret that Abergavenny Chess Club has to report the loss of a long standing member, Bll Newrick, who passed away recently after a long illness.
Bill had been an enthusiastic and loyal member of the club for more than thirty years and although he had entered his ninth decade he was still playing to a good club standard. Indeed, in his last playing season he very narrowly missed winning the best performance prize for a second division player in the Gwent League.
He will be missed by all the members of Abergavenny Chess Club and those West Walians who enjoyed his company at the Guernsey tournament every October.
