Sad news has reached us that Bill Flew has passed away.
Bill was a regular player in Upper killay and initialy a captain of the second team before becoming the first team captain.
He started playing in the league for Pennard in the 1970’s, before moving away to the Midlands.
He retured to West Wales in the 2000’s. He often reminded us about the fixture arrangements in thr Midlands at our AGM.
He was a very friendly person and liked it when his opponent played PQ4. He will be sadly missed.
The Welsh Chess Union woul like to express our condolences to Bill’s family and friends at this very sad time.
Bill Flew’s funeral is on Mon 17 Dec with a service at Saint Mary’s Church Pennard at 2.30 pm followed by 4 pm at Llanelli Crematorium and back to Pennard Golf Club at 5.30 pm.
